Located on Commerce on the South side of the street, across from where Langston’s, Brown’s and Penney’s used to be. It is East of Hudson & West of Harvey. We have been meeting for lunch at “The Grill on the Hill” for 6 months, so we might as well call it a permanent get-together. Mark your calendar for the last Monday of the month, 11:30 AM. Come out and join us at the “Grill of the Hill” in Capitol Hill. It has been so enjoyable to get-together each month to keep up to date with classmates who have meant so much to each of us. We enjoy our time of reminiscing about ole' friends and some of the memories we've had from CHHS, Jackson and Capitol Hill Jr. High and all of the grade schools. Oh what a wonderful time we had. Friday night with Mel Hardeman conducting a trivia contest and Barbara (Cebulesky) Blanton interviewing several classmates to find out what they have been doing over the last 45 years. Friday night was held at the FOP building. The long tables were setup with white and maroon table cloths and there was an abundance of snacks and sweets to go around. Saturday night was held at the elegant Sportsman's Country Club. The table settings and food was absolutely great. Mike Mullings son McClaine and his friend Sean were the DJ's for the evening. It was great to see lots of people out on the dance floor swinging to the sounds of the 50's & 60's, which continues to be some of the best music of all times. Mel Hardeman conducted more trivia contest and Carolyn (Clayton) Felder interviewed more classmates.
As the days go on we plan to have several people writing in to tell about the good time they had at the reunion. It was great to see so many classmates who were unable to make it to the 40th reunion. Our thanks also goes to Frances for taking the lead in putting together display posters with photos of our deceased classmates, Jackson Jr. High photos, grade school classroom photos and other memorabilia graciously submitted from several of our classmates.
This reunion would never have come to being without the financial support and many, many hours of personal time and effort shared by dedicated classmates. We want to thank everyone who had a part in planning and organizing the activities, setting up and decorating the rooms so that we all could enjoy such wonderful evenings.
We want to thank Paul Pappas for designing and publishing the beautiful reunion handouts.
Our thanks goes out to Frances (Fleming) Louderback for making the nametags with the senior photo from the yearbook. Without the nametags we would not have been able to recognize many of the classmates. I know it seems impossible but many of us have changed over the last 45 years.
