Yearbook covers for the Class of 1962, when we were only Freshmen,

For the Class of 1963, we became Sophomores,

And with the Class of 1964, when we finally became Seniors.

Did you know this bit of information.  Taken from the pages of our 1964 Yearbook.

For the first time ever, the Capitol Hill High School crest appears on the cover of a Chieftain yearbook, but for well over a quarter century, Capitol Hill graduates have proudly displayed the crest on their classrings.

The crest itself has a lone tepee behind which a rising sun is shedding its rays.  This scene symbolizes the perpetual light which always shines on the home of the Redskins – a light which is much more than any physical force.  It is the light which represents to every Redskin the unending search for knowledge – for enlightenment.  It is the light which represents the warmth, the inner glow of love which every Redskin feels for his school home as well as for the members of his school family.

Yes, this is the light which motivates Redskins to achieve with pride in every facet of human growth – in academics, athletics, human relations and any other phase of true education.

With the symbol of the crest in mind, the 1964 Chieftain staff has chosen to call the reproduction of the 1963-64 school year, Days of Sunlight.
